Vacationing in Washington state 2 summers ago, I was overwhelmed with the colors of california poppies, red poppies and lavender mixed in. Brilliant! They were wild and everywhere. When I left Whidbey Island, after taking plenty of photos, I came home and painted both the red and yellow varieties.
